“A surprising pleasant stay!”
We were in HK for a wedding and our host booked the hotel for a group of us. Before our arrival, we had our doubts about the hotel...we thought it was priced too high for the area and that it would turn out to be one of those tour operator hotels with bad service, worn linens etc. But boy, were we wrong! It turned out to be a really pleasant stay and even though it was in the outskirts, it was in a really convenient area. The subway was within walking distance, there was a market nearby, lots of yummy eateries in the area, good Wifi and the customer service turned out to be really good as well! So, we were pleasantly surprised! From the airport, ask how you can catch a free airport shuttle that takes you right to this hotel. If you are looking to buy mineral water, there is a midsize supermarket at the subway (it´s a bit hidden, so ask around) and it opens till midnight! We learned about the supermarket only on our last night, which was a shame. We paid way too much for mineral water at 7-Eleven
“Good value, great location and great hotel”
I booked with City Garden for just 1 night before heading off to Macau - have to say, this hotel exceeded expectations. All the staff were lovely, courteous and very helpful (shout out to the bellboys who went out of their way to help us hire a cab and help with our luggage, thank you!). Our room (in which we were offered a surprise upgrade!) was very comfortable, clean and we had a great night's sleep. Free Wi-Fi was a bonus and easy to access. The only setback was that it wasn't easy to hire a cab but other than that, it's only 5-10 minutes walk to the MTR (Fortress Hill station). It's in a great location with local eateries and amenities surrounding. Will definitely book with City Garden again :)
“Nice Hotel, Helpful Staffs”
The front desk staff, specifically Mr. Roger, was kind enough to accommodate our request for an extra bed for my child. Indeed it really made our stay very comfortable. Rooms are clean and spacious. Hotel's location was good as the mtr is just a few minutes walk away from the hotel. There are a lot of restaurants within the hotel's vicinity with delicious offerings. The hotel's concierge staffs are very courteous, very helpful and very efficient. Housekeeping staffs are very efficient and they clean the rooms thoroughly. I really feel that City Garden Hotel is underrated. Overall, I would rate City Garden Hotel as excellent! Keep up the great work City Garden Hotel team!
“Great hotel for the price”
We stayed in a Grandluxe room for 2 nights. So on arrival we got to check in upstairs in the business suite in comfort with lovely staff who spoke excellent English. Our room was lovely and big, clean and comfortable. We had available all day snacks and soft drinks in the business lounge, then from 6-8? Alcohol and canapés included in our room package, this was very nice. The pool area is very clean with 2 staff members watching over at all times. The buffet breakfast was plentiful with a chef cooking eggs as you wanted them. We did have the buffet dinner 1 night, it was very nice, with a desert chef and movenpick ice cream, and there was beer and soft drinks included, but the full price is nearly $500hkd each, which I think is way overpriced (unless you drink beer) luckily they had a special buy 1 get 1 free for hotel guests. Would stay here again for the price.
No complaints of any significance. A busy hotel that did its job. There are better locations, but we discovered, a little late, that a shuttle bus service to HK central is available. Neat and tidy and housekeeping service was good.
““Comfortable and near MTR””
Stayed for 5 night ending 3 May 2016. Although its not in the popular areas of CWB,TST , Mongkok, Wanchai, Jordan, I didn't find this a problem at all . Tram, MTR, buses...all within 5 mins walk. All around there are eateries (famous Dimsum shop nearby, great jap restaurant at first floor of nearby residential block, sports factory outlet shops), supermarket and 24hr marts. Very convenient. Ambience is typical of a mass tourist class hotel. Clean and bigger than most of the newer hotels (this is a old hotel but its refurbished) . Not luxurious but no problem , it's comfortable really. Big plus, it has Airport express shuttle bus that is complimentary and easy if you are taking the train to HK island fr airport and leaving in the same style. Definitely will check it out on my next HK visit.
“In the heart of Hong Kong”
The City Garden Hotel is centrally situated and forms one of the pick up points for the Victoria Peak Tram ride and viewing point, as well as the Hong Kong City Tour. The Hotel has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and gym and two restaurants. The VIP lounge is appointed very well and the hotel has free wi-fi. Rooms are comfortable and hotel staff and services are very good. Breakfast Buffet is something special. Close to shops and chain restaurants.
“Big birthday trip 2015”
Located on Hong Kong Island in an interesting area full of local markets and shops. Hotel reception welcoming , however the room was tired and in need of refurbishment. After a word with reception moved to a much nicer room with a view on the third floor. Breakfast was of good quality, hot ,cold, Eastern or western. Thoroughly enjoyed staying.
“Tidy, friendly hotel at an afforbadle price.”
I have used the City Garden Hotel for 2 business trips. Both times were great. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly and welcoming. I did not eat at the hotel restaurant because there are are lots of restaurants in walking distance which offer a wider variety of food. There is also a Starbucks a couple of minutes walk away from the hotel. Wifi is free. The Fortress Hill MTR station is just round the corner. I will always use this hotel when staying in Hong Kong.
“good hotel in Fortress Hill”
Hubby and I stayed here in May this year for 2 nights. This hotel is in a very convenient location and a very easy walk from Fortress Hill MRT station. There is the famous Tim Ho Wan Michelin star outlet on the same street. So as you leave the Hotel and if you are facing the road walk to your right and you will come across this very busy dim sum restaurant. Even though we stayed here for 2 nights we never had the buffet breakfast as there are so many great eateries within walking distance.
“Amazing hotel in North Point. Value for Money”
Got this hotel for a dirt cheap price. Wanted to stay in Hong Kong just for a night as had to catch a flight the next day. The hotel is situated in North Point area and is 6-7 kms away from Causeway Bay, Admiralty, Wan Chai and LKF. The MTR station is 7-8 mins walk from the hotel. The front desk guys upgraded our standard room and made us feel comfortable. The rooms are huge and well designed. The bath is a tad small though. Our plan didnt have breakfast so wont be able to comment on that. Amazing hotel to stay at decent prices.
“Great find in busy city”
City Garden is away from the tourist spots but worth the effort. Transport (train, bus and tram) readily available, HK is small enough that distance is not an issue. There are some good restaurants nearby as well as restaurants in the hotel that offer value.Great value if you select the club room.
“Honest staff and VERY comfortable stay”
I usually have terrible sleep in new locations, but City Garden Hotel kept me sleeping like a baby throughout. The room was big enough for the 3 of us with comfy beds and pillows, and was quite a cosy accommodation. Aside from 3 beds, the room could also fit a writing desk, sofa and television. WIFI was also strong and fast enough. The location was also fairly easy to find, with a bus (I believe it was A11) from the airport stopping directly outside the hotel. It's also a 3-5 minute walk (just 2 streets away) from Fortress Hill MRT exit B - 2 stops from Causeway Bay. You'll also be close to a supermarket, pharmacies, a clinic, Yoshinoya, herbal tea store, Gong Cha and also several Cha Chan Tengs serving up a yummy Hong Kong breakfast. Basically, everything you need! Also, I would like to specially commend the cleaning staff. There was one day we absentmindedly left behind an envelope of cash (about HKD1,200) in the hotel room, and only noticed it when we were having breakfast! We rushed back to the hotel praying that room service hadn't come by yet, and were pleasantly surprised to see the envelope placed nicely on a neatly made bed. Thank you for being so honest! All in all, we loved our stay at City Garden and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to get a good night's sleep after a hard day's walk in the bustling city!
